UK Compatible Ink Cartridges: Choose the Right One
You've probably invested a substantial sum in your computer and printer. Doesn't it make sense, then, to buy the right supplies to keep them in top shape? If you have a laser or inkjet printer, it's likely that you were surprised at the cost of OEM ink cartridges in the UK. By OEM, we mean printer cartridges that carry the same brand as the printer. For example, the price of a branded Canon cartridge will, over time, will easily exceed the cost of the printer. The same is true for inkjet cartridges and toner cartridges for many other brands. But did you know that there's a simple way to keep these costs down? All you need to do is switch from branded to compatible ink cartridges.
Step 1: Check the Printer Manual
When switching to compatible printer ink cartridges, you'll need the exact make and model of your printer. Refer to the manual and be sure to note the make and model completely. When shopping for Canon compatible ink cartridges, "Canon ImageClass" does not specify the printer in enough detail. The printer manual gives more complete information: "Canon ImageClass MF3200 Series." This is the description you should use when shopping for Canon ink.
Step 2: Verify Your Printer Information
Once the package of an ink toner cartridge is opened, you'll probably be unable to return or exchange it, except in the case of a defect. So, it's a good idea to be thoroughly familiar with your printer. For example, you need to know whether it's an inkjet or laser because each type of printer has different ink cartridge requirements.
Step 3: Verify Your Cartridge Information
Some printers take a single cartridge that prints in both colour and black. Other printers have separate cartridges for colour and black. You should be able to find this information in the printer manual or by looking at the cartridges directly. If your printer does take multiple cartridges, only replace what you need to save money. To save even more money, use a compatible ink cartridge rather than an OEM. Also, try to determine whether the cartridge uses brand name or generic ink, which is less expensive. And if you find cartridges on sale, it's a good idea to stock up.
Step 4: Install and Test
Read your printer manual to learn how to replace the printer ink cartridge. Remove the new cartridge from the package and take a good look at it. Sometimes you'll find protective plastic pieces and tape that protect the cartridge in shipping that must be removed. Also refer to any instructions packed with the cartridge or printed on the box. Before removing the old cartridge from the machine, note how it's oriented. Before printing anything important, run a few test prints to verify correct installation. Refer to the manual as needed.
